21, November, Michael Frank Goodchild，US Academy of Science, internationally renowned geographic information scientist attended the first student session of Geographic Information Science Forum at the invitation of professor Gong. This forum was held in S818 of Mon Manwei Science and Technology Building.

9 graduates from CESS gave academic report in English to introduce their research in the fields of Cyberinfrastucture for global change studies, PM2.5 concentration, DNDC biogeochemical model, influenza, hydrological process model, flux-based ecosystem model, total cloud cover, urban sprawl process. Goodchild have an interaction with all the 9 graduates and proposed some advice on collection of science data, selection of research method, analysis of test results and the next research fields. He pointed out that the analysis content, time and interaction with audience should be strengthened with more exercises. At the end, he reminded all the attenders that explaining clearly and completely to other scientists should be a basic skill for a qualified scientist and make progress in the process of learning from each other.

The Geographic Information Science Forum is held by CESS to promote the communication and cooperation of different academic fields. Professor Gong stated that CESS will encourage graduates to seek their interesting fields through lectures, forums, competitions and other styles of academic exchange.
