China Geo-Explorer provides rich and comprehensive information for government statistics, census data, and spatial data (GIS) of China. This talk will give an introduction to those China Spatial Data included in China Geo-Explorer, including its background, objectives, primary data sources, methodologies, unique features, and online functions for easy access and analysis. It will also discuss the new initiative of China Data Lab, a cloud based platform that offers an integrated environment for data, tools and case studies for China studies. An interactive discussion for questions and answers will follow the online demonstration.

主讲人简介

Shuming Bao is the previous director of the China Data Center at the University of Michigan, He is currently the director of the China Data Institute in the US, the co-director of the Geocomputation Center for Social Sciences at Wuhan University, and the co-director of the China Data Lab project at Harvard University. Dr. Bao has published more than 80 papers in the areas of GIS, regional economics, and spatial data analysis.
