Introduction to the Lecture:

The origin, present situation and trend of global environmental problems; discussion on the role and reform of the United Nations in the environment and development process; the global competence of international talents needed for global environmental governance, that is, the core values of the United Nations, core competence, three practical basic skills, and the cognition and adaptability to the multiculture and rules of the global village. The lecture aims at awakening blind spot knowledge and cognition, solving doubts and problems in pursuit of truth, and empowering quality and ability through practice.

Profile of the Speaker:

Wang Zhijia obtained his Bachelor’s degree in English from the Department of Foreign Languages of Nankai University and Master’s degree in International Environmental Law from Wuhan University. He served as Director of the International Cooperation Department of the State Environmental Protection Administration, Deputy Director of the Regional Cooperation Department of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Special Advisor to the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Executive Director of UNEP, and Director of the United Nations Association of China. He currently is a member of the National Committee for International Youth Studies of China Youth and Children Research Association, Member of the Board of Directors of the International Organization Talent Training Committee of China Education Development Strategy Society, Advisory Professor of Tongji University, Special External Advisor of the International Competence Training Base of Zhejiang University, Special Advisor to International Organization Talent Training of Nanjing University, Special Advisor to the School of Global Governance, China Renmin University, and Advisor to the practices of the International Competence Youth Talent Training Camp of Nankai University.
