On the afternoon of December 25, CCTV Director Li Wenju held a lecture in the "The Frontiers of Earth System Science" held in the autumn of 2017, hosted by Department of Earth System Science, Tsinghua University
The Frontiers of Earth System Science is one of the fine academic exchange platforms set up by the Department of Geosciences for Tsinghua University students and other academic staff inside and outside the school. Professor Gong Peng, dean of the Faculty of Science at Tsinghua University and director of the Department of Earth System Science, presided over this forum. Nearly 100 teachers and students from Tsinghua University and other academicians at home and abroad participated in the exchange.
From "Songs of the Woods", "Silk Road - the journey to start again" and "the power of nature", combined with personal experiences and sentiments in Tibet, Northwest and Northeast China, Li Wenju described the story of a geographer from the perspective of a documentary worker - rivers and lakes, cultural settlements, where the roads come from, where people live, and what precious heritage is scattered in the wilderness.
Subsequently, director Li Wenju introduced the story behind the documentary "The Power of Nature" which took five years. The crew went deep into the deserted areas of the Altun Mountains and the no-crowded Qiangtang areas and even encountered wolves and wild yaks, catching many pictures of unexpected encounters and showing the public an unprecedented beauty of China. Director Li Wenju also pointed out that the different climatic and geographical features of different regions raised different organisms, formed a tradition of living in harmony with nature among local residents and gave birth to unique local customs and cultures.
In the interactive session of the forum, director Li Wenju also patiently answered questions raised by the audience. Li Wenju director pointed out that when shooting creatures should also pay attention to the protection of biological growth, not in favor of "destructive" shooting, the photographer should seek a balance between the quality of photography and biological protection. He also stressed that shooting content is very important, high-quality content is the focus of communication, rather than blindly cater to the public taste.
