On November 10, Professor Gong Peng, dean of the Faculty of Science of Tsinghua University, director of the Department of Earth System Science, and vice president of the China Institute of New Urbanization was invited to attend the "International Conference on Sustainable Development and Healthy Cities" sponsored by the National Development and Reform Commission, City and Township Center for Reform and Development, the World Health Organization and Tsinghua University's China Institute of New Urbanization.

Prof. Gong Peng makes a keynote speech on "Healthy City Construction and Urban Efficient Management"

At the seminar, Prof. Gong Peng conducted an in-depth analysis on the development of healthy cities and explored the major challenges in the construction of healthy cities. Taking the existing problems in the infrastructure construction of university campuses as an example, he pointed out the promotion direction and development space for the construction of healthy cities in the future. He pointed out that building a healthy city needs systematic scientific support. The healthy development of healthy cells, healthy communities and healthy cities is the only way leading to healthy China. Based on the multi-level and trans-regional characteristics of citizens' health development, we should optimize the living-working-leisure layout and strengthen the close division of labor and close cooperation among urban departments such as urban planning management, design and construction, and environmental protection. At the same time, encourage citizens to vigorously participate in the construction of healthy cities from the bottom up. Urban planning and design must take the global or regional perspective into consideration and predict the future population, economy and life style from the overall view, multidisciplinary and quantitative aspects.
