From November 6 to November 17, Cai Wenjia, an associate professor of Department of Earth System Science at Tsinghua University, participated in the 23rd UN Climate Change Conference (COP23) in Bonn, Germany.
As a member of the Chinese government negotiating delegation, Cai Wenjia is mainly responsible for the negotiation of the topic of "technology development and transfer". There are mainly four technology-related issues in this negotiation, and more than 20 negotiation meetings attended by representatives of the Parties took place. Cai Wenjia introduced China's position and ideas during the meeting and actively communicated with representatives of other developing countries and developed countries to speed up the formation of consensus and push forward the negotiation process.
Held every year at the end of each year, the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP) is the core platform for discussing climate change response around the world. This year's conference focuses on promoting the implementation of the Paris Agreement. As the head of the Chinese delegation, Xie Zhenhua, China's special representative for climate change affairs, took more than 70 people from various ministries and research institutions and other units.
