Abstract

Analysis of the observed characteristics of Beijing's influence on regional climate; development of high-resolution numerical prediction systems of urban areas, including the creation of urban basic data datasets; establishment of urban high-resolution land surface data assimilation systems; development of multi-layer UCM; development of parameterized schemes for the boundary layer in urban areas. Study of the mechanism of city influence on regional climate and that on extreme weather based on the modified UCM.

Presenter Profile

Yu Miao, female, Associate Research Fellow of Institute of Urban Meteorology, CMA, Beijing. In 2015, she received the doctorate degree from The Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, engaged in the observation and simulation of the urban boundary layer; in 2016, visited the City University of New York, studied the development and improvement of the multi-layer UCM in the regional model; from 2017 onwards, served as the Associate Research Fellow of the Research Office of Urban Boundary Layer, Institute of Urban Meteorology, CMA, Beijing, and the key member of the high-resolution numerical simulation team, Beijing Meteorological Service. Presided over 3 scientific research projects at the national, provincial and ministerial level or above, participated in 1 international science and technology cooperation project, 1 Beijing key science and technology project, and 6 provincial and ministerial-level projects as key member, published academic papers in high-level journals such as JGR; accomplished many results in studying the mechanism how Beijing area influences urban precipitation, and was covered in the headline of Beijing Daily (Science and Technology Edition) in October 2015.
