Brief Introduction of the Lecture:

Regionality, comprehensiveness and complexity are the basic characteristics of geography, and the excavation of its core connotation is the main breakthrough and growth point of the development of geography in the new era. This report focuses on the design of geographic modeling and simulation system, analyzes the insufficiency of existing geographic modeling and simulation systems in supporting the research of new era geographic characteristics, and constructs a geographic modeling and modeling system (OpenGMS) which integrates the simulation resource service standard, geographic model networked sharing environment, collaborative model building environment and distributed integrated simulation running environment. In order to provide a new generation of open geographic modeling and simulation system for geography research, the architecture design, module composition and functional case of the system are described in detail.

Brief introduction of the presenter:

Chen Min, Professor of Geography College of Nanjing Normal University, Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Virtual Geographic Environment (Nanjing Normal University), Ministry of Education. He was selected as the National Youth Talents Program (Key), Jiangsu Special Professor, Jiangsu Province "Double Creative Team" leader and "University Innovation" Talents, and the winner of the National Excellent Youth Fund. He is mainly engaged in the research of geographic modeling and simulation, leads the development of Open Geographic Modeling and Simulation Platform (OpenGMS) which has been widely recognized by the international community and has formed the voice of the Chinese research team. He is currently Vice President of the International Environmental Modeling and Software Society (iEMSs), Chairman of the Geographic Information Modeling Committee of the International Geographic Union (IGU), Co-Chairman of the Education and Digital Earth Capacity-Building Committee of the International Digital Earth Association, Chair of the Young Scientists Working Group of the Asian Geographic Society, and President of the Consortium for Surface Dynamic Modeling Systems (CSDMS). He is the chairman of the Open Modeling Platform Working Group, the vice chairman of the Virtual Geographic Environment Professional Committee of the International Digital Earth Association, the first Chinese Fellow of the International Environmental Modeling and Software Association, the Executive Editor-in-Chief of CPGIS Journal Annals of GIS, and the Journal of iEMSs Environmental Modeling. He won the Tobler Young Researcher Award of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, the Top Ten Young Science Stars of Jiangsu Province, the Youth Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Geographic Society, and the Innovative Person Award of Universities, and three provincial and ministerial awards.
