On the afternoon of November 26, the first session of the Young Scholar Salon of the  School   of Science was held at the Teacher Development Center. In this issue of the salon, Youhui Zhang, a researcher in the Department of Computer Science at Tsinghua University, is invited to give a report titled "A Preliminary Study of the Intersection of Brain-inspired Intelligence Computing Systems and Science". Youhui Zhang took Brain-inspired Intelligence as the starting point, and introduced h  is   research background, recent work and related research in cross-disciplines. Gong Peng, Dean of the School of Science and Dean of the Department of Earth  System   Science  (DESS)  , Tsinghua University, Wenming Zou, Dean of the Department of Mathematics, Kaili Jiang, Deputy Dean of the Department of Physics, Haiping Wu, Deputy Dean of  DESS  ,  and     more     than     30   faculties from  DESS  , Chemistry, Electronics, Astronomy, Mechatronics, and Pharmacy participated in the activity.

At the salon, Youhui Zhang started from "what is Brain-inspired Intelligence ", and introduced the origin of brain-like research, the current research status, the problems faced in the research, and the future of Brain-inspired Intelligence. He believes that in the process of exploring the intersection of Brain-inspired Intelligence computing systems and sciences, organized scientific research should be adhered to, and chips should be used as a starting point to drive related research. At the same time, it is necessary to combine engineering thinking and science thinking in research thinking,  and explore with an open and cooperative mentality.

After listening to Youhui's introduction, the participating teachers put forward questions based on their research fields, and the guest speakers gave detailed answers to the questions. The two sides had a lively discussion and a spark of thought came out.

Peng Gong, Dean of the School of Science and Dean of DESS, said in his concluding speech that he expects that the related research results of Brain-inspired Intelligence can be applied to people's real life faster and more widely. The research directions of the various departments of the School of Science include areas that overlap with Brain-inspired Intelligence computing systems. Peng Gong hopes to use this salon as an  opportunity to carry out deeper exchanges and cooperation in the future.

The Salon for Young Scholars of the School of Science of Tsinghua University is a platform dedicated to promoting interdisciplinary dialogue between science and other disciplines. By inviting teachers of science and related fields to discuss the same important topic of academic concern, teachers are encouraged to think freely and boldly. Hypothesis, dialectical thinking, certification and verification, promote the collision and exchange of multi-disciplinary ideas, stimulate the possibility of interdisciplinary research, propose new ideas and new insights for disciplinary development, and enhance the overall academic level of science development at Tsinghua University.
