Recently, Professor Lin Guanghui’s academic book “Stable Isotope Ecology” is awarded the first prize in the Excellent Academic Book Award of University Press inChina. Award of University Press in China is the top award in books published in university press in this country. It is hosted by Social Science Division of Department of Education and Association of Chinese Press, and is awarded bi-anually. The awards are Excellent Textbook Award, Excellent Academic Book, and Best-seller Award.

This academic book is one of the series books in the so-called “one course, one academic book” series proposed by Professor Gong Peng. The book is written over years, combined with Dr. Lin Guanghui’s over 20 years experience in science study as well as large amounts of literature reviews. This book introduced from the developing history of technologies and basic terms in stable isotope ecology, to the measurement of stable isotopes and important composition and spatial distribution of stable isotopes in nature, along with the relationship with different fields like carbon metabolism in plants related to water, zooecology, botany, relationship with animals and microorganisms, as well as organics in soil, nitrogen cycle in biochemistry, key greenhouse gases in atmosphere and its sources and sinks. It also includes ecological effect of global change, urban ecology problems and reconstruction of paleoclimate, paleovegetation, and paleoecology processes. Moreover, isotope tracking in pollutants, forensic medicine and detection in counterterrorism and drug control is also addressed in detail. Famous ecologies academician Fang Jingyun wrote the prologue for the book, saying that “ it is an important academic book with a combination of teaching and science study, which is rare” and “ so-far the most systematic and comprehensive reference book in this field in China”.
