In the afternoon of December 14th, Academician Kang Le, the insect ecologist and director of the Institute of Zoology, CAS, was invited to Redbud Forum on Global Change Science and delivered a lecture on Molecular Regulation of Phase Changes. He pointed out that migratory locust was a global species and its plague was a great harm to agriculture and husbandry for the closeness of its cluster route with that of human beings. The control by traditional chemical pesticides is easy to pollute the ecological environment. Academician Kang Le, analyzed its clustering and scattering from the perspective of its molecular mechanism and he also proposed effective methods of regulation and control, which provided a completed theoretical basis for ecological control of locust.
