From November 26th to December 8th 2012, as the members of Chinese government delegation, Wang Can and Cai Wenjia, the professor and assistant professor of CESS attended the United Nations Climate Change Conference held in Doha, Qatar. They participated in the negotiation of issues related to technology transfer and sectoral approaches. In addition, Prof. Wang served as the coordinator for G77+China on technology transfer issue.

After 13 days of negotiation, the conference legally confirmed the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol, and reached an agreement on long-term Convention-implementing cooperation. The conference adhered to the principle of “common but differentiated responsibilities” and maintained the basic system of the Convention and Protocol framework. In addition, the conference had a deep discussion on strengthening principle, element and framework of Durban platform negotiation after 2020, and made an overall planning for negotiation.
