Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China announced the result of the assessment of the 2017 annual application. The Department of Earth Sciences Science has applied for a total of 20 projects of the Natural Science Foundation during the centralized reception period. Including two National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, four outstanding youth science fund project, eight surface item, five youth fund project, one joint fund project item. As a result, all the projects were approved for seven items, including 4 fund projects and 3 youth funds.

Department of Earth System Science carried out a tense and orderly preparation in the early declaration of the Fund. On March 1, Professor Luo Yong, deputy director of the Department of Earth System Science, organized and presided over the fund application for pre-defense, and more than 20 teachers attended the meeting. At the meeting, those teachers who want to declare the project introduced their own project situation. Participating judges Professor Luo Yong, Professor Zhang Qiang, Professor Wang Bin, Professor Lin Guanghui and Professor Yang Kun and so on made a lot of valuable changes to the proposal. All the participants agreed that the harvest is greater, and will carefully modify the declaration according to the proposal, the final declaration to do more fully prepared. Finally, Professor Luo expressed gratitude to the judges for the help to the teachers and wished everyone to declare success.
