On the afternoon of April 16, 2026, the Department of Earth System Science (DESS) at Tsinghua University held a special study session on national security education and discipline education for graduate students. Themed “Coordinating Development and Security, Safeguarding the New Journey of the 15th Five-Year Plan,” the event aimed to popularize national security knowledge, strengthen awareness of law-abiding conduct and security precautions, and guide all graduate students to establish a correct view of security and discipline. Attending the event were Yu Le, Head of the Graduate Work Group of Tsinghua DESS; Peng Xiaojuan, Student Affairs Officer; Yi Yang, lecturer of Tsinghua University Holistic Approach to National Security Publicity Group and 2025 doctoral candidate of the School of Safety Science, as well as graduate student Party members.

In his speech, Yu Le emphasized the importance of national security and encouraged students to integrate their academic professional studies with the prevention of security risks in fields such as ecology, resources, and geology, and to act as guardians of national security.

Yi Yang rendered a special lecture entitled “International Security from the Perspective of a Holistic National Security Outlook”, in which he offered an incisive yet accessible analysis of the current global security landscape. The session not only imparted solid theoretical knowledge to students, but also helped them develop a profound, all-round understanding of the holistic national security outlook.

Based on students' real-life circumstances, Peng Xiaojuan put forward targeted guidance and advice on safety issues and disciplinary regulations.
