On the afternoon of April 9, Dr. Weerapan Srichan, Chair and Assistant Professor of the Department of Geological Sciences, Chiang Mai University, paid a research visit to Tsinghua’s Department of Earth System Science (DESS). Associate Professor Yu Le, head of the department’s Graduate Work Office, and Associate Professor He Bin attended the discussion session, which was presided over by Yu Le.

Yu Le warmly welcomed Weerapan Srichan's arrival. He briefed the guest on the department's development history, faculty composition, disciplinary construction, research progress and international cooperation undertakings. He noted that the department strives to advance interdisciplinary Earth system science, steadily strengthen core academic strengths, and contribute Tsinghua's expertise to protecting planetary ecological security and advancing sustainable development.

Weerapan Srichan extended sincere thanks for the warm reception. He outlined the development progress, disciplinary layout, research platforms and academic achievements of his department. He hoped to conduct in-depth discussions on potential cooperation, earnestly implement the memorandum of understanding signed between the two universities, and further deepen bilateral exchanges and collaboration.

Subsequently, the participants conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on potential cooperation directions such as research collaboration, faculty and student exchanges, short-term internships, and curriculum design. This exchange activity not only enhanced mutual understanding between Chiang Mai University and Tsinghua University in the field of Earth system science, but also laid a solid foundation for future cooperation and development between the two sides.
