The Beijing Municipal Meteorological Service delegation, led by Deputy Director Ji Chongping, visited Tsinghua University's Department of Earth System Science (DESS) for a strategic exchange on December 12, 2025. Chair Luo Yong, Vice Party Secretary Lu Hui, and Associate Chair Lin Yanluan hosted the delegation alongside DESS faculty members.
Professor Luo Yong welcomed the delegation and presented DESS's cutting-edge research in climate hazard early-warning systems and disaster risk reduction. Deputy Director Ji Chongping acknowledged Tsinghua's scholarly contributions while outlining Beijing’s milestone achievements in meteorological governance. Li Chao, Deputy Director of the Disaster Mitigation Office of the Beijing Municipal Meteorological Service, detailed planning contents related to meteorological direction within Beijing's Resilient City Master Plan. In the subsequent exchange session, the two sides focused on the key tasks, existing problems and future development direction of the special planning, and conducted in-depth and fruitful discussions and exchanges.
This exchange, with a focus on social service demands, significantly strengthened the overall quality of disciplinary development of Earth system science, providing actionable insights for Beijing's urban resilience planning while establishing a sustainable collaboration framework between Tsinghua DESS and the Beijing Municipal Meteorological Service.
