In order to promote the better growth of the backbone of doctoral students in Department of Earth System Science (DESS) and help them understand the Party construction experience of the grass-roots Party organizations, on April 2, 19 teachers and students from DESS of Tsinghua University came to Wuqing District, Tianjin, to carry out Party construction friendship activity with Party branch of organization department of district Party committee. In the afternoon, Gao Jintian met with the teachers and students of the practical activity group. On behalf of the Wuqing District Committee, he welcomed the arrival of the group. Related comrades from the Organization Department of the District Party Committee introduced Wuqing's cultural history and Party construction experience. The District Talent Office introduced that Wuqing, as one of the regions with the best geographical location, spatial layout, and comprehensive conditions in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, has a livable and business-friendly environment with best cost-effectiveness in the core area of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

Subsequently, the relevant comrades of the Organization Department of the District Party Committee introduced the Party construction situation of Wuqing District and the Organization Department of the District Party Committee. In order to ensure the effective results of Party history learning and education, the Wuqing District Committee Organization Department established a Party history learning and education leading group to organize and carry out special lectures on Party history learning and education and theme Party day activities. In addition, the Organization Department of the District Party Committee deeply carried out practical activities of "I can do practical things for general public" and formulated work plans. It carryied out the "Five Ups" special activities including "Four travels", being on duty in turns, serving for people, helping difficult "relatives", and establishing vanguard figure, to effectively solve the problems of the public's desperation and anxiety. At the symposium, WU Haiping, the Associate Director of DESS, Deputy Secretary of the general Party branch of Tsinghua University, introduced the historical evolution of DESS and the current development of DESS at Tsinghua University. Three graduate party member representatives ZHANG Yan, REN Zhehao and XIA Wenwen respectively introduced the characteristics and highlights of the party construction work for graduate students in DESS, and shared the experience and practices of how young students should build consensus in their work and serve the society in practice.

In the concluding speech, GAO Jintian placed hope on the visiting students, saying that Tsinghua students should take on social responsibilities, closely integrate personal development with social needs, and fulfill the original mission of party members.
