Prof. Gong Peng attended the Well habitat 2018 international symposium, jointly held by Delos China and Well habitat laboratory (China) and delivers a speech on November 5, 2018. Experts, researchers and international scholars from the fields of geophysics, medicine, architecture, psychology and urban planning were present to discuss the future of healthy human settlements with professionals in the field, together with the most cutting-edge scientific achievements and the most cutting-edge practical experience.

The roundtable forum was co-hosted by Prof. Gong, dean of Tsinghua University’s school of science and the China institute of new urbanization, and Prof. Lin Qibo, dean of the school of design and environment, National University of Singapore and tenured professor of architecture, Carnegie Mellon University. Taking the campus construction of Tsinghua University as an example, Prof. Gong pointed out that it was very difficult to achieve compromise by forming a balance in the process of implementation. It was necessary to form the management of the whole chain and take the comprehensive planning and the participation of all members into account. At the same time, experts and scholars in the field also analyzed and discussed the issues from the aspects of big data, particulate matter, energy conservation, sense of gain, mega-cities and overall time-space view, according to their academic background and practical experience.
Professors, researchers and industry advocates from China, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Denmark and the United States participated in the event to discuss the mission and future of healthy human settlements from the fields of architecture science, health science and behavioral science, respectively.
