Prof. Gong Peng attended the first space earth science symposium on the morning of November 14, 2018. At the conference, the space earth science professional committee was formally announced.
The space earth science committee is a second-level society under the Chinese society for space science, which was approved by the China association for science and technology on May 15, 2018. Its affiliated unit is the Chinese academy of sciences space information institute. The secretariat is located in the national key laboratory of remote sensing science. This conference is the first academic activity organized by the committee. Nearly 400 space geoscience scholars and experts from 65 research institutes, universities and enterprises attended the conference.

At the scene

Prof. Gong was giving a speech
Prof. Gong delivered a special keynote report entitled global surface dynamic monitoring and impact assessment. The report expounded the need of global health and future earth research for global environmental monitoring, summarized the research results of Chinese environmental change monitoring based on spatial observation data and remote sensing applications in overseas hot spots, and analyzed the current situation and development trend of global surface cover mapping in different scales. The report proposed a new paradigm of using the concept of planetary health to guide environmental change and health research, and proposed systematic global observations and simulations based on a global perspective, deepening data sharing and strengthening multidisciplinary cooperation.
