讲座简介:

The Energy, Climate and Environment (ECE) program at IIASA assesses the intertwined environmental and socio‑economic challenges confronting humanity. We address the difficulty of remaining within planetary boundaries by exploring integrated, multiscale solutions, based on translating global transformation pathways into actionable regional and local policies. ECE hosts a suite of open‑access modeling tools - MESSAGEix, GAINS, MAGICC, GLOBIOM, CWatM, among others - that together enable simultaneous analysis of greenhouse‑gas and air‑pollution mitigation, land‑use dynamics, water availability, and socio‑economic drivers. We use this framework to assess feasibility across technological, economic, social, and institutional dimensions, and incorporated concepts such as decent‑living standards, just transitions, and distributional impacts of policy measures. ECE researchers contribute to the IPCC AR7 and have active engagement with other policy bodies—EU’s Fit‑for‑55, NGFS, World Bank, UN forums - demonstrating our pivotal role in bridging science and policy.

主讲人简介:

Bas van Ruijven is group leader of the Sustainable Service Systems (S3) group in the Energy, Climate, and Environment (ECE) program at IIASA and co-chair of the International Committee On New Integrated Climate change assessment Scenarios (ICONICS). Dr. van Ruijven's research interests cover a wide range of topics, from energy and technology scenarios to energy transitions in developing countries and the impacts of climate change. Current projects include the analysis of climate change impacts on energy demand across climate models and socioeconomic scenarios and a global analysis of the role of electricity interconnections in greenhouse gas mitigation.
