The report highlights the discipline's holistic thinking, systematic approaches, and profound societal value.

Profile of the Speaker

Fu Bojie is an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), Foreign Associate of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Foreign Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Honorary Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and Fellow of the International Science Council. He serves as a researcher at the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Additionally, he holds positions as Vice President of the International Geographical Union and Supervisor of the Geographical Society of China. His research primarily focuses on physical geography and landscape ecology, where he has achieved systematic and innovative results in areas such as land use structure and ecological processes, landscape ecology and ecosystem services, and sustainable development. He has published over 600 academic papers in prestigious journals including Science, Nature, Nature-Geoscience, Nature-Climate Change, Nature-Sustainability, Nature-Ecology & Evolution, Science Advances, and National Science Review, with more than 400 papers indexed in SCI. He has authored over 10 books and contributed to more than 10 national advisory reports. He has been recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher, with his work cited over 60,000 times internationally. He has been awarded the Second Prize of the National Natural Science Award twice (2005, 2020) and has received numerous other accolades, including the Outstanding Science and Technology Achievement Prize of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Ho Leung Ho Lee Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress, the National Innovation Excellence Award, the Tan Kah Kee Science Award in Earth Sciences, the TWAS-Lenovo Science Prize, and the Alexander von Humboldt Medal from the European Geosciences Union. He has also been honored with titles such as "CCTV Science and Technology Innovation Person of the Year 2019" and "National Outstanding Professional and Technical Talent."
