Introduction to the Lecture:

Climate change is posing a serious threat to human life and health, and its health effects largely depend on the degree of government and society’s response and adaptation. In future climate change scenarios, extreme events will be more frequent and intense. If the public health system fails to respond effectively, climate change will do more harm to public health with a more extensive impact, and the resulting social security and economic burden will constantly emerge. How to properly cope with global climate change and its impact on health has become an imperative scientific problem that governments at all levels, public health and environmental protection departments in China must address. The scientific community needs to strengthen research to fully understand the future trend of climate-sensitive diseases and the interaction between other global environmental changes and socio-economic development on public health, so as to effectively cope with and manage the tremendous health risks caused by global climate change to our society.
