讲座简介：

Prof Sitch will first give an overview of climate research at the University of Exeter and show case recent work and research interests on: health and climate change; the land carbon cycle; Chemistry, Aerosols & land interactions; Ocean carbon cycle and Climate Dynamics. A main focus of the talk will be on land-atmosphere interactions, including the role of land ecosystems in mitigating present-day climate change, it’s role in regulating interannual variability in the atmospheric CO2 growth rate, and the importance of land parameterization in future climate change projection. He will also present work on the impact of changing aerosol quantity and quality (diffuse component) on the land carbon sink, and the impact of ozone pollution on the carbon cycle.

主讲人简介：

Prof Stephen Sitch holds a Chair in Climate Change, and his research focuses on the role of land vegetation in the Earth System. Prof Sitch is a world leader in dynamic global vegetation modelling (DGVM), and contributing author for the last 3 IPCC reports. Sitch contributes to development of the JULES land-surface model, was theme leader in plant physiology to 2010, vegetation dynamics & disturbance to 2014 and is now leader of community experiments. He was the DGVM intercomparison lead for TRENDY (Global Carbon Project), won ISI highly cited researcher in 2014 and has 116 papers, >15064 citations and an h-score=55 (ISI).
