On August 24, the Symposium for Students of the 2024 Summer Youth League School of the Department of Earth System Science (DESS) was held in the South Building of Mong Man Wai Technology Building. Representatives of the Graduate Student Affairs Office of the DESS, heads of the Graduate Youth League Committee and the Graduate Student Union, and the representatives of the freshmen of the Summer Youth League School participated in the colloquium. The meeting was presided over by Xu Yawei, deputy head of the Graduate Affairs Group of the DESS.

Xu Yawei shares her insight

Xu Yawei introduced the structure and development of the Graduate Affairs Group of the DESS, and shared her insights as a social worker. She hoped that the students of the Youth League School would actively participate in social work in the Graduate Youth League Committee and the Graduate Student Union, raise innovative ideas and diversify activity contents. Li Aiwei, secretary of the Graduate Youth League Committee of the DESS, introduced the overall situation of the organization. Yang Huidi, deputy secretary of the CYL organization, Guo Yu, deputy secretary of practice, and Ma Qihan, deputy secretary of volunteers, respectively presented in-depth explanations on the work characteristics of the CYL organization department, the practice department and the volunteer department. He Yixu, chair of the Graduate Student Union (GSU), introduced the overall situation of the DESS GSU, especially the “Small Department, Big Brand” series activities . Zhang Han, former vice chair of the Academic Department, Fan Zhihao, vice chair of the Sports Department, Sun Zhelun, vice chair of the Culture Department, and Zang Mingrun, vice chair of the Department of Rights and Interests Protection, respectively reviewed the work responsibilities, work plans and special activities of their departments. The students of the Summer Youth League School shared what they had learned in the school. Subsequently, leaders of the Graduate Youth League Committee and the Graduate Student Union of the DESS had an in-depth exchange with the students of the summer school.
