Associate Professor Liu Zhu of the Department of Earth System Science (DESS), Tsinghua University has been invited to serve on the jury of Frontiers Planet Prize. The Frontiers Planet Prize program selects three outstanding research achievements related to sustainable development every year, and awards the corresponding scientists a total prize of CHF 3 million, which is the highest international award in the field of sustainable development and environment-related fields by far. The Frontier Research Foundation, an international non-profit organization, will award the Frontiers Planet Prize, an international award focusing on sustainability science, for the first time in 2023.
The selection criterion of this award is that the research results must have been published in peer-reviewed journals within the past two years (January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2022). Applicants are required to submit their applications through the National Representative Body (NRB) and the National Nominating Body (NNB) of the country and region where the website (https://www.frontiersfoundation.org/prizes/our-network) belongs. An applicant not from the list of representative entities of countries and regions listed in the website can also submit the application directly through the following website: https://council.science/current/blog/frontiers-planet-prize-science-for-a-sustainable-planet/. Each institution has a maximum of 3 nomination opportunities, and the deadline is December 1, 2022.
This year's prizes will be judged by a jury of 100 experts from all over the world. Among them, Associate Professor Liu Zhu of the Dess, Tsinghua University and Professor Gong Peng, Vice President of the University of Hong Kong, are the only two experts from China.
