On the afternoon of June 6, the representative of The Nature Conservancy (TNC), including Bob Moseley, Director of the Asia-Pacific City Project, Liz O'Donoghue, Director of the TNC Infrastructure and Land Use Program, and some other members of the TNC Beijing Representative Office visited the Department of Earth System Science (DESS). Prof. Gong Peng, director of the DESS, and associate Prof. Yangjun received the visitors at the Room S818, Mengminwei Science and Technology Building.

Prof. Gong first welcomed the visit of the TNC representatives and introduced the basic conditions of the department, including development history, faculty members, and research fields. The representative of TNC introduced the Asian cities project, and the "Greenprint" system that has been put into use in the Bay Area of San Francisco, and discussed its future application prospects in Chinese cities.

After that, Associate Professor Yang Jun introduced the situation of the Urban Ecology Research Group of the DESS. PhD students Huang Conghong and Jin Jing made academic reports on "Analysis of the availability and accessibility to urban green space in the world" and "Sampling methods for urban biodiversity survey", repectively.

During the talk, the two sides also exchanged views on the future cooperation between the research on urban biodiversity and urban ecosystem services.
