On the afternoon of April 10th, the 300th Zijing Forum of global change science hosted by the Department of Earth System Science of Tsinghua University was held in the Room S818, Meng Minwei Science & Technology Building.Mr. Wang Yi, a tenured professor at the University of Sykes, was invited to be the guest of the 300th Zijing Forum. The forum was presided over by Prof. Luo Yong, Party Secretary of the Department of Earth System Science.

It was a good scenery at Tsinghua University. Prof. Wang Yi has twice led students to visit the Department of Earth System Science and he is an old friend of the department.In this visit, Prof. Wang gave an academic report entitledThe Impact of the Sahara Desert on Climate Chang. In his report, he introduced the important impact of the Sahara Desert on regional and global climate change, and the latest developments in the Sahara Desert research he participated in. More than 30 teachers and students from the Department of Earth System Science and other departments attended the forum.

After the report, Prof. Wang answered questions from teachers and students.And thenProf. Gong Peng, the head of the Department of Earth System Science, presented him with the 300th commemorative certificate of the Zijing Forum and thanked him for his guest. Prof. Gong said that the Department of Earth System Science attached great importance to cooperation with the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences of the University of Sexus. He also said that the two sides had cooperated and exchanged closely in the field of climate change in recent years, and hoped that the two sides would actively promote the in-depth cooperation between teachers and students in more scientific research fields and do more influential results.

Prof. Gong said that the department would better organize the Zijing Forum activities, and created more opportunities for teachers and students to communicate and learn with domestic and foreign counterparts, and open up the international perspective of students.

Before the forum began, Prof. Luo Yong, on behalf of the Department of Earth System Science of Tsinghua University, welcomed the visit of Prof. Wang Yi and his entourage. Prof. Luo gave a detailed introduction to Prof. Wang's background information, research fields and achievements, and congratulated him on his honorary degree as a visiting professor at Tsinghua University. The departmen held a ceremony for the appointment of a visiting professor at Tsinghua University for Prof. Wang, and Prof. Gong presented a letter of appointment to him.
