New semester, fresh start. On the evening of September 2, all the faculty members in ecology in the Department of Earth System Science held a work exchange meeting in Room S818, Mengminwei Science and Technology Building. The meeting was presided over by Professor Gong Peng, the head of the department and the leader of the ecological sciences.

Prof. Gong Peng reviewed the development of the ecological discipline since its establishment, and summarized the scientific research achievements of the Department of Earth System Science in recent years, including the sample migration and stable classification theory of surface cover mapping, the change of China's built-up area in the 40 years of reform and opening up, and the global 40 Years of impervious layer changes, China's basic urban land use analysis. These results have been published or submitted to peer-reviewed journals. Gong Peng also said that the cooperation between ecology in the Department of Earth System Science and the top journal of international medicine,Lancet, is more in-depth. In addition to preparing for the assessment of the progress of China's healthy cities, both sides began to cooperate in the research and compilation of the report “Ecological Civilization and Health”.

Later, faculty members of the ecological subject introduced their current research projects and the progress of scientific research. The teachers present at the scene gave active speeches, actively discussed and exchanged ideas, and sought mutual cooperation opportunities.

In the end, Gong Peng made a summary of the exchange meeting. He hoped that the faculty members of the ecological discipline would dare to innovate in scientific research, do in-depth exchanges in daily work, and strive to accumulate scientific research results, and get ready for the upcoming fifth round of discipline evaluation.
