Chen Xu, the Chairperson of Tsinghua University Council, and Sir Steve Smith, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Exeter, signed a jointly awarded Doctoral degree agreement at President’s Hall On November 16. The Department of Earth System Science of Tsinghua University and the Life & Environment and the School of Engineering of the University of Exeter have been trying to co-supervise PHD students since 2015. Through Joint-Supervision, this program will enable students to achieve more valuable resources and expertise, promote the internationalization of students and improve research ability. Both parties expressed their hope to establish a more comprehensive and substantive partnership in the coming years. Yan Haiping, the director of the department of foreign languages, Wu Haiping, the deputy director of the Department of Earth System Science, Sergey Venevsky, the associate professor of Department of Earth System Science, and Meng Bo, the deputy director of the International Department attended the signing ceremony.
