In the afternoon of October 10th, Professor Andy Cucy, who works in the department of Ocean and Earth Science in University of Southampton UK, visted CESS. Professor Xu Bin, Lu Hui, Yang Jun, Yu Chaoqing and associate Professor Yu Le of Center for Earth System Science (CESS) attended the meeting.

Professor Andy introduced the basic information of department of Ocean and Earth Science in Universty of Southampton

Professor Xu Bin warmly welcomed Professor Andy Cucy and briefly introduced the information about CESS on academic researches, cultivation of talents, social services and other aspects. Next, Professor Andy introduced the basic information of the department he working at, and suggested some detailed advices on the cooperation work with CESS, hoping that CESS and University of Southampton can cooperate on joint supervision of graduate students and scientific researches.

University of Southampton is a famous university in UK, and the department of Eletronics and Computer Science is the top one in all universities iof UK. Tsinghua University and University of Southampton singed a cooperation memo on 1999. Graduate school at Shenzhen of Tsinghua University and University of Southampton signed agreements about co-building laborary and joint supervision of graduate students and other cooperations on 2008 and 2011 separately.
