In February 2015, Researchers from the Center for Earth System Science (CESS), Tsinghua University captured and released 4 Greater White-fronted Geese equipped with GPS-GSM satellite transmitters in Poyang Lake, Jiangxi Province, aiming to gain a better understanding of the environmental mechanisms underlying the spatio-temporal migration patterns of East Asian birds.

According to the up-to-date tracking data, THU05 began to move north from Poyang Lake on Marth 22th, 2015, flew across the Bohai Gulf and landed around Momoge wetlands, Jilin Province, for a stopover, after a flight of 2000 km (Figure 1). Other geese remain in their wintering site along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. THU01 and THU03 stay in Poyang Lake, while THU02 flew 300 km to Dongting Lake on March 12, 2015, and stayed thereafter (Figure 2).
