May31-June 2 , 2014 National Outstanding College Camp of Earth Science Discipline held by CESS is gong on . This camp has received 196 applications from universities all over China .

After a preliminary screening , 81 excellent students from Tsinghua University , Wuhan University , Zhejiang University , Nanjing University , Sun Yat-sen University , Renmin University of China etc , whose GPA rank 10% in their three bachelor-year , are admitted to this camp .

In the opening ceremony , Peng Gong , director of CESS , gives the 81 students a ebullient greeting and introduces CESS briefly . Then six professors from different research groups make it clear to the students about their research fields and features . At end , Wu Haiping , deputy secretary of the Party branch of CESS , declares the admission policy , specific requirements during this summer camp and the grouped lists .

During the three-day camp , campers have participated written examination , audition , and they can have face-to-face communication through lectures and interactive discussions . Then some of them will be a member of CESS the next year .

This camp will promote communication between the outstanding colleges , enhance the domestic undergraduates’ understanding about the research of earth system science , climate changing in CESS in Tsinghua University .
