Recently, the award ceremony for was held in Guangzhou. Long Time Series Nighttime Light Dataset of China (2000-2020) jointly published by the National Supercomputing Center in Shenzhen, Tsinghua University, the International Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (CBAS) and the University of Hong Kong won the "Top Ten Most Valuable Annual Datasets" award, and Fu Haohuan’s team at Tsinghua University won the title of "Top Ten Most Contributing Data Teams".

The "China Long Time Series Annual Artificial Nighttime Light Dataset (1984-2020)" was collaboratively developed by Dr. Zhang Lixian and Dr. Ren Zhehao, Ph.D. graduates from the Department of Earth System Science (DESS) at Tsinghua University, along with Bing Xu, Fu Haohuan, and Chen Bin, as well as Professor Gong Peng from the University of Hong Kong. This groundbreaking dataset marks the first extension of luminous observation data back to 1984, offering a more profound and comprehensive remote sensing perspective from space for research in urbanization, environmental monitoring, resource management, and related fields. It empowers researchers to better understand and address the spatiotemporal dynamics of human activities, leveraging the capabilities of supercomputers. The findings were published as a data paper in Scientific Data in April 2024. To date, the dataset has garnered over 31,000 views and more than 8,000 downloads, with the related paper being recognized as ESI Highly Cited Paper.

The Third Call for Outstanding Shared Open Remote Sensing Datasets was jointly organized by the National Earth Observation Scientific Data Center, the National Tibetan Plateau Scientific Data Center, the National Glacier Frozen Desert Scientific Data Center, the National Polar Scientific Data Center, the Journal of Remote Sensing, China Scientific Data, the Electronic Journal of Global Change Data Publishing and Repository (in Chinese and English) and the Journal of Global Change Data & Discovery (in Chinese and English). Since its official launch in April 2024, 192 dataset works of more than 120 teams have been received from all over the country, representing the highest level of open sharing of scientific data in the remote sensing field in China.
