The results of the 29th Tsinghua University Graduate "Academic Rising Star" awards were recently announced. Sun Yida, a doctoral candidate from the Department of Earth System Science (DESS), was honored with this prestigious title (only 10 recipients university-wide).

Sun Yida, a Class 2021 doctoral candidate under the supervision of Professor Guan Dabo, has pioneered innovative interdisciplinary methodologies for disaster footprint analysis. His research quantifies climate risk patterns and transmission mechanisms in complex energy-health-economy networks with high spatiotemporal resolution, with findings published in top-tier journals including Nature and featured by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and international media like Carbon Brief. His project "Impacts of Typical Climate Risks on China's Energy Infrastructure and Economic Supply Chains" received funding from the inaugural National Natural Science Foundation Basic Research Program for Doctoral Students. His accolades include the National Scholarship, Qian Yi Environmental Award, and Best Poster Award at the Asian University Alliance Annual Conference on Energy and Sustainability. He previously served as Deputy Secretary of the Tsinghua DESS Graduate Student Association.

The 29th "Academic Rising Star" selection began on March 19 with 44 candidates. After departmental nominations, procedural reviews, and university evaluation, 10 graduate students received this distinction. As Tsinghua's flagship initiative to foster academic excellence, the award promotes innovative talent development, academic integrity, and research quality enhancement, holding significant prestige among the graduate community.
