Recently, Doctoral Class 3 of the Department of Earth System Science (DESS) has been awarded the title of "Advanced Class Youth League" for the spring semester of the 2023-2024 academic year, marking the class's second time receiving this honor. The "Graduate Student Class Youth League Cultivation Plan" at Tsinghua University is a guidance initiative launched by the university's Research Youth League Committee, aiming to foster high-quality development among graduate students. This plan seeks to reinforce solidarity among graduate student class youth leagues, bolster collective cohesion, and enhance their sense of collective honor and belonging.

DESS Doctoral Class 3 (former DESS Graduate Class 23) consists of 31 doctoral students of Grade 2023, whose research interests cover atmospheric science, ecology, geography, computational earth science and other fields.

Led by the Party Committee of the DESS, Doctoral Class 3, under the general guidelines of “Simultaneous Development of Moral, Intellectual, Physical, Aesthetic and Labor Educations” (Five Educations), makes concerted effort to build a vibrant graduate collective with a clear political stand, dedicated to the pursuit of truth, goodness and beauty, and the commitment of social services.

DESS Doctoral Class 3 visits China Meteorological Administration

DESS Doctoral Class 3, starting with the integration of the Party and Youth League, organizes and carries out all activities of the two organizations as a whole, builds the class as a strong fighting fortress, and incorporates ideological and political work in daily construction and various activities. Over the past year, 48 five-education activities were organized for the department as a whole and individual classes, covering more than 1200 people-times. Based on their professional characteristics, from the perspectives of ecological civilization progress and meteorological science and technology development, students took part in the special activities of Arbor Day, "Planting Bauhinia Forest Together", the World Meteorological Day roadshow sponsored by the China Meteorological Administration and the World Earth Day roadshow "Listening to the Earth", making great efforts to build a brand with DESS characteristics.
