On January 16th, Zhao Xing, Director, and Guo Ruijun, Deputy Director of Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau’s Exit-Entry Administration, and their delegation visited the Department of Earth System Science (DESS), Tsinghua University. Wang Hongwei, Vice President of Tsinghua University, and Academician Chen Deliang, Chair Professor of the DESS, warmly received the visiting guests in S818, Mong Man Wai Technology Building. The meeting was chaired by Dean Luo Yong of the DESS.

Luo Yong extended a warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the Exit-Entry Administration delegation, acknowledging their consistent support and facilitation for foreign faculty members. He emphasized the Administration’s critical role in enhancing the department’s internationalization efforts and strengthening global academic exchanges and partnerships.

During the meeting, Director Zhao Xing formally presented Academician Chen Deliang with a permanent residence ID card. Zhao Xing highlighted that Academician Chen Deliang, a leading international scholar in Earth system science, not only excels in his professional expertise but also possesses a global perspective and significant influence in the international academic community. The on-site service provided by the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau’s Exit-Entry Administration demonstrates Beijing’s strong commitment to attracting high-level talent and its proactive approach to talent recruitment.

Following this, Deputy Director Guo Ruijun provided a detailed introduction to the “Set Sail · Talent Pooling Program.” She emphasized that the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau’s Exit-Entry Administration will continue to enhance and optimize the comprehensive service system for international talents in Beijing, offering robust support for the city’s efforts to attract top talent and foster innovation.

Academician Chen Deliang expressed his sincere gratitude to the Exit-Entry Administration for its unwavering support and exceptional service. He emphasized his commitment to leveraging his expertise to contribute fully to the development of the nation, Beijing, and Tsinghua University. He also looked forward to fostering more extensive and in-depth exchanges and collaboration with the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau’s Exit-Entry Administration in the future.

Vice President Wang Hongwei expressed heartfelt gratitude to Director Zhao Xing and his delegation for their visit to Tsinghua University and their attentive service to Academician Chen Deliang. Wang Hongwei also commended the nation’s ongoing efforts to refine entry and exit policies for international talent. He emphasized that the successful recruitment of top global scientists like Academician Chen Deliang will play a crucial role in advancing discipline development, talent cultivation, and even the nation’s scientific innovation and its vision of building a robust educational system. Moving forward, with the steadfast support of authorities at all levels, Tsinghua University will continue to leverage its unique strengths in "attracting talent through talent and masters through masters," propelling the university toward a new chapter of high-quality development.
