On the morning of March 12, 2023, Tsinghua University, Jiangxi Normal University, Jiangxi Agricultural University and the University of Hong Kong jointly held the Signing Ceremony of the Nanji Hills Declaration on the Sharing of Field Scientific Observation Data (hereinafter referred to as the Nanji Hills Declaration) and the first working meeting of the Field Scientific Observation Data Sharing Network in the Zhongshun Lecture Hall of Fangyin Building of Jiangxi Normal University. This was an academic activity initiated by the participating scholars to promote the "cooperation, co-building and sharing" of field scientific observation data. The acquisition of field scientific observation data provides a lifeline of geographical research. Establishing a sharing platform and mechanism of field scientific observation data can enhance the comparative analysis of data, reduce repetitive work of different research teams, save national scientific research funds and improve the quality standard of scientific data. This will provide excellent data support for the research work of many young scientists and students, and help them produce results quickly and well.

Present at the meeting were Dong Shenghong, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Jiangxi Normal University, Luo Yong, Vice President of the School of Sciences and Dean of the Department of Earth System Science, Tsinghua University, Director Xu Bing and Deputy Directors Bai Yuqi and Zhang Tao of the Ministry of Education (MOE) Ecological Field Station for East Asian Migratory Birds, Tsinghua University, Researcher Yue Tianxiang, head of the Wugong Mountain Ecological and Environmental Monitoring and Research Base, and Associate Professor Huang Hongsheng of the School of Land Resources and Environment of Jiangxi Agricultural University, Associate Research Fellow Zhang Hongsheng of the Department of Geography, the University of Hong Kong, Academician Lin Hui, Director of the Key Laboratory of Lake Poyang Wetland and Watershed Research, Ministry of Education/Dean of School of Geography and Environment, Jiangxi Normal University, Luo Jin, Executive Dean and Ye Minsheng, Deputy Dean of the School of Geography and Environment, Fang Chaoyang, Executive Deputy Director and Wu Zhiwei, Deputy Director of Key Laboratory of Lake Poyang Wetland and Watershed Research, Huang Qi, Director of Nanji Wetland Field Comprehensive Experimental Station, Lake Poyang; and Li Yankuo, Professor of the Academy of Life Sciences, Jiangxi Normal University. Representatives of teachers and students from the Department of Earth System Science, Tsinghua University and the School of Geography and Environment of Jiangxi Normal University also attended the meeting. The Signing Ceremony was presided over by Director Huang Yunhong of the Science and Technology Department of Jiangxi Normal University.

At the Signing Ceremony, Vice President Dong Shenghong delivered a speech on behalf of Jiangxi Normal University, extended a warm welcome to the guests at the Signing Ceremony, and congratulated the four institutions on signing the Nanji Hills Declaration. Dong Shenghong introduced the history of Jiangxi Normal University, the development of discipline construction, the development of the geography discipline and the construction of the Key MOE Laboratory of Lake Poyang Wetland and Watershed Research. He pointed out that the Party's Report to the 20th CPC National Congress proposed to speed up the construction of a network power and a digital China. It is of great significance for ecological progress to build an efficient and collaborative ecological observation network and enhance the effectiveness of scientific data sharing. He hoped that all parties would take this opportunity to further strengthen resource integration and data sharing cooperation, and make new and greater contributions to the construction of beautiful Jiangxi and beautiful China.

Luo Yong delivered a speech

Luo Yong rendered a speech on behalf of the first group of signatories: the Ministry of Education Ecological Field Station for East Asian Migratory Birds, the Nanji Wetland Field Comprehensive Experimental Station of Lake Poyang, the Wugong Mountain Ecological and Environmental Monitoring and Research Base and the Department of Geography of the University of Hong Kong. Prof. Luo emphasized that to truly share scientific data, we must first achieve broad consensus and conscious action in the scientific community. Scientists should strive to be innovators in data research and development, makers of data rules and practitioners of data sharing. It is necessary to break the traditional concept of scientific data possession, vigorously promote information disclosure, maximize scientific data sharing, and efficiently serve social and economic development and scientific innovation on the premise of ensuring national security and related intellectual property rights. To this end, we jointly signed the Nanji Hills Declaration and established the "Field Scientific Observation Data Sharing Network". It is hoped that the Nanji Hills Declaration will receive more positive responses from peers, and jointly uphold the spirit of equality and mutual assistance of "I am for everyone and everyone is for me", establish a new scientific research cooperation community, stimulate in-depth scientific innovation and create a better scientific future.

Xu Bing presides over the first working meeting of the "Field Scientific Observation Data Sharing Network"

After the Signing Ceremony, Xu Bing presided over the first working meeting of the "Field Scientific Observation Data Sharing Network". Xu Bing, Huang Qi, Yue Tianxiang and Zhang Hongsheng introduced four field observation and research stations respectively. Experts attending the meeting held in-depth discussions and exchanges on the work related to scientific observation data sharing network work and project cooperation. The meeting concluded with a speech by Lin Hui.

After the meeting, the participating experts visited the Key Laboratory of Lake Poyang Wetland and Watershed Research of the Ministry of Education. In addition, teachers and students of Tsinghua University and Jiangxi Normal University jointly organized comprehensive investigation activities at field scientific observation stations, such as observation of migratory birds, water quality sampling of Lake Poyang and surface spectrum measurement of wetland areas.
