In order to promote the faculty and staff of Department of Earth System Science to fully understand the service policy of Tsinghua University’s technological achievements transformation, on June 1, Department of Earth System Sciences held a technological achievement transformation exchange meeting at S818, South Building, MENG Minwei Science and Technology Building, and invited Dean WANG Yan of the Office of Technology Transfer to make a special report on the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. Professor LUO Yong, the dean of Department of Earth System Science, presided over the meeting. More than 20 faculties and staff from Department of Earth System Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, School of Medicine, and Clean and Control Nuclear Energy attended the meeting.

Wang Yan elaborated on the connotation of technological innovation to promote industrial development and industry transformation, and introduced how universities, as one of the core elements of the national innovation system, should provide technology through the output of scientific research results and transform them into the technical needs and services of service enterprises and government’s technical services. At the same time, she analyzed the main factors influencing the transformation effect of colleges and universities in the process of transforming scientific and technological achievements, introduced the overall situation of Tsinghua University's technology transfer and the service system of Office of Technology Transfer as the school's technological achievements transformation institution; and introduced relevant policies of the school in intellectual property rights, achievement transformation, personnel affairs, etc., as well as the school’s successful typical cases in the material field, information field, and life field. In the subsequent communication session, she answered the questions raised by teachers about the transformation model of scientific and technological achievements, partner selection, technology pricing, and income distribution one by one.

LUO Yong mentioned in his concluding speech that Office of Technology Transfer has always provided great support and assistance to teachers of Department of Earth System Science in the transformation of technological achievements, and I would like to express my gratitude. He said that in the future, teachers of Department of Earth System Science will better borrow and utilize the professional platform of the school's technology transfer institute to rationally transform more and better scientific and technological achievements and put them into practical use.

The teachers that attended the meeting said that the exchange of scientific and technological achievements has been very rewarding. It not only has a comprehensive understanding of the school's relevant policies on the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, but also provides thinking about how to transform the achievements and serve the society in the future.
