On the morning of December 11th, the meeting for Professor FU Haohuan from the Department of Earth System Science (DESS) of Tsinghua University becoming a full Party member was held in the conference room 818, South Building of Mengminwei Science and Technology Building. After full discussion and voting by members of the First Party Branch of the Faculty and Staff of DESS, it was unanimously agreed that Comrade FU Haohuan became to the official Party member of the Communist Party of China on schedule. The school Party committee secretary CHEN Xu attended the meeting and delivered a speech as a contact person at the school Party committee level. XU Qinghong, member of the standing committee of the school Party committee and head of the organization department, attended the meeting.

On behalf of the school Party committee, CHEN Xu warmly congratulated Comrade FU Haohuan on his conversion to a full Party member. CHEN Xu said that in the past year, Comrade FU Haohuan, especially during the outbreak of the COVID-19, has withstood the test, has more mature thinking and understanding, more comprehensive development of teaching and research work, and achieved excellent results. Especially in terms of teaching and educating students, Comrade FU Haohuan gave full play to the role of ideological and political guidance, based on the relationship between guidance and learning, and achieved consensus and value recognition in the interaction with his classmates. In terms of educating students, the Party members have played a pioneering and exemplary role. She hoped that Comrade FU Haohuan will continue to work hard, continue to fully integrate theoretical study with teaching and research, and strive to become an outstanding Communist Party member.

The faculty and staff Party branch of DESS has undergone organizational adjustments in the spring semester of 2020, and the original faculty and staff Party branches have been split and reorganized according to subject classification and faculty functions. At the meeting, CHEN Xu expressed ardent hopes to all teachers and students of the newly established Party branch and DESS.

CHEN Xu emphasized that the deployment of the Fifth Plenum of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on education and teaching, scientific and technological self-improvement, especially the resources and environment, and the international situation are closely related to the discipline construction of DESS. She hopes that the Party branches of DESS will continue to focus on the " 14th Five-Year Plan formulation" planning and construction work, play a leading role in uniting teachers and students, leading teachers and students, and serving teachers and students, and continue to work hard to build a world-class geoscience discipline. CHEN Xu also said that the country and universities have achieved hard-won pandemic prevention results. Party members and comrades must take the lead in consciously abiding by pandemic prevention and control disciplines, set a good example, and make their own contributions to ensure that schools resume classes.

At the meeting, Comrade FU Haohuan reported on his performance in ideological understanding, teaching and research, study and life since becoming a reserve party member, and expressed his determination to become a full party member. Comrade Fu Haohuan’s introduction to the Party, Professor LUO Yong, Secretary of the Party Branch of DESS, and Associate Researcher WU Haiping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch, respectively introduced Comrade Fu Haohuan’s training situation and overall performance in the preparatory period, and opinions about whether he could become a full member. Associate Professor HUANG Wenyu, Secretary of the First Party Branch of the Faculty and Staff of DESS, reported on the training and inspection of Comrade FU Haohuan on behalf of the branch committee. The Party members and comrades participating in the meeting expressed their opinions and suggestions on the performance of Comrade FU Haohuan during the preparation period. Everyone unanimously agreed that Comrade FU Haohuan would become a full Party member and hope that he will continue to work hard in the future to better play an exemplary role. After full discussion and voting by the members of the branch, it was agreed that Comrade FU Haohuan became a full party member of the Communist Party of China.

LUO Yong congratulated Comrade FU Haohuan on becoming a full Party member. He hoped that Comrade Fu Haohuan would base on a new starting point, further strengthen political learning, let go of his hands and feet, work boldly, exercise and cultivate his own organizational and coordination leadership skills, better play the role of leading talents in computational earth sciences, and create high-end talent training in computational earth sciences, to enhance the international academic influence and social service capabilities of DESS and the National Wuxi Supercomputing Center. LUO Yong said that the success of the development of Party members for young teachers in DESS is inseparable from the care and support of the school's Party committee. DESS will further summarize the experience of developing outstanding young talents to join the Party, and accelerate the development of Party members for teachers to join the Party.

After the meeting, CHEN Xu presented the study book "Here is China" to FU Haohuan on behalf of the backbone of the school's young teachers' leading workstation, and took a group photo with the participants. Resume of FU Haohuan

FU Haohuan, male, born in August 1982. In July 2003, he received a bachelor's degree in computer science from Tsinghua University. In July 2005, he obtained a master's degree in Computer Science from City University of Hong Kong. In January 2009, he received PhD degree in Computer Science from Imperial College London, UK. From March 2009 to November 2010, he was engaged in postdoctoral research in the Department of Geophysics at Stanford University in the United States. From December 2010 to July 2018, he served as an associate professor in the Department of Earth System Science, Tsinghua University. Since July 2018, he has been appointed professor of the Department of Earth System Science of Tsinghua University. In 2016 and 2017, he won the "Gordon Bell" award, the highest award in the field of high-performance computing applications, for two consecutive years. In 2017, he was awarded the world's leading scientific and technological achievement in the World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit. In 2017, it was selected as one of the ten highlights of Tsinghua University. In 2018, he was awarded the China youth Wusi Medal of Jiangsu Province. In 2020, he won the China youth Wusi Medal.
