On the morning of March 6, Xue Qikun, Vice President of Tsinghua University, went to the Department of Earth System Science to investigate graduate employment and epidemic prevention arrangement. Luo Yong, secretary of the General Party Branch of the Department of Earth System Science, Gong Peng, dean of the department, deputy director Wu Haiping, and deputy director Zhang Qiang attended the forum and gave presentations.

On behalf of the school, Xue Qikun expressed his condolences and gratitude to the teachers and students of the Department of Earth System Science, and affirmed the work and efforts of the Department in strictly implementing the epidemic prevention and control measures, promoting the teaching and scientific research in an orderly manner, and graduate employment arrangement as well. He pointed out that at present, the epidemic prevention work is still in the most strenuous period, and everyone is required to strengthen their confidence. At the same time, he also requested that the work be done in more detail. We must continue to carry out online teaching in a smooth and orderly manner, and we must also care about the actual difficulties of students, especially those facing graduation and employment.

Luo Yong expressed his gratitude to Vice President Xue Qikun on behalf of the school to visit to the Department of Earth System Science during the period of epidemic prevention and control. He briefly introduced the overall work deployment of the Department, the online evaluation of teachers' lectures, and the scientific research on COVID-19, as well as graduation and employment related work for students. The manager from Shou Jia Property introduced the management mode, as well as the method of personnel disinfection of in the office area of Meng Minwei Technology Building.

The Department of Earth System Science has set up a Graduation Employment Working Group, which has comprehensively grasped the relevant information of 163 enrolled students. It conducted a thorough mapping of the students who are planning to graduate in 2020. At the end of February, the Department issued the "Implementation Measures for Postgraduate Tutors' Remote Guidance ", requiring postgraduate tutors to hold online meetings to strengthen guidance for students; and "Preliminary Plans for Doing a Good Job in Graduate Graduation and Employment" to implement "One person, one policy, and accurate assistance" policy for the students who want to graduate; the online "Redbud Forum on Global Change Science" will be organized to count the number of academic reports to solve the problem of insufficient participation of some students in academic reports; the final academic report of doctoral students will be held online. At the same time, the final academic report will be held in April for an additional batch of graduates in August.

The party and government team of the Department of Earth System Science stated that it will further implement various tasks in accordance with the requirements of the school, pay close attention to students' graduate employment and scientific research, and strive to "not relax epidemic prevention and control, teaching and scientific research, and reform and development."
