On the afternoon of 30 October, DESS held a session on benchmarking with the constitution and regulations of CPC, then held an exchange meeting of education and research results in the theme of “Remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind” in Room 818, South Tower, Meng Minwei Science and Technology Building. The leaders of DESS were present at the meeting, the 9th steering team leader Prof. Wei Zhiwu, and the liaison officer Prof. Yuan Lili of the campus education in the team of theme of “Remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind” attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Luo Yong, Secretary of DESS General Party Branch.

At the session on benchmarking with the constitution and regulations of CPC, Prof. Luo Yong referred to the provisions of "Constitution of the Communist Party of China", " Guidelines on Political Life in the Communist Party of China under the New Situation", and “Regulations on Disciplinary Actions of the Communist Party of China” on behalf of all DESS leaders, made a benchmarking review by focusing on 18 “whether…or…not”, then had a self-profiling. Luo Yong admitted certain results achieved DESS since the founding, but this session not only benchmarked the problems and gaps with leaders and individuals, but also benchmarked the gaps with world class universities in terms of department construction and discipline construction. All DESS leaders will strictly followed the general requirements of the theme education for “Remain true to our original aspiration, undertake the mission, find gaps and implement actions”, included the reviews of this session into the DESS Rectification Checklist, and will further discuss the rectification measures at the democratic life meeting among DESS leaders.

DESS leaders made a cross-check and reported the individual performance and deficiencies one by one in all critical contents to be checked and revealed.

At the subsequent exchange meeting of education and research results in the theme of “Remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind”, Luo Yong introduced the updates of this survey in DESS according to the rectification list of 2018 annual democratic life meeting among DESS leaders, and the public opinions and suggestions recently gathered in the form of suggestion boxes, distribution of electronic questionnaires, symposiums, and one-on-one interviews.

At the exchange meeting, DESS leaders reported the updates of the survey in own area of responsibility, discussed the contents of the research report and proposed further comments on amendment.
