On the morning of April 29, the Deparment of Earth System Science (DESS) at Tsinghua University held an alumni symposium in Room 818 of the South Mengminwei Science and Technology Building. The Homecoming alumni, faculty members, and more than 30 graduate students of the DESS attended the symposium. Wu Haiping, deputy director and deputy secretary of general party branch of the DESS, attended the meeting as well.

At the symposium, Wu firstly extended a warm welcome to the homecoming alumni and expressed his sincere gratitude for their contribution to the development of the department. He discussed with the alumni about the difference between the academic life and working experience. He also encouraged the student at school to cherish the opportunity of study and pay attention to strengthen the basic scientific researching skills. Later, Wu invited the alumni to give some suggestions on the training program and course setting for the DESS.

During the meeting, the alumni expressed their gratitude to the professors of the department for the teaching and training. At the same time, they were delighted with the flourishing development of the DESS and shared their experience in studying and working with the graduate students at school.
