讲座简介

In this presentation, I will first share my understanding of the so-called spatial big data, and then elucidate the opportunities and challenges it brings. Subsequently, I will introduce our work in relation to multi-resolution data fusion, spatiotemporal heterogeneous data regression and deep learning-based urban land use classification that addresses the fundamental challenges confronting geographical information science.

主讲人简介

Dr. Bo Huang is a Professor in the Department of Geography and Resource Management, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he is also the Associate Director of Institute of Space and Earth Information Science (ISEIS). Prior to this, he held faculty positions at University of Calgary, Canada (Geomatics) and National University of Singapore (Transportation). He has a background and experience in diverse disciplines, including urban planning, computer science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing. His research interests are broad, covering most aspects of GIScience, specifically the design and development of models and algorithms for spatial/spatio-temporal statistics, unified satellite image fusion and multi-objective spatial optimization, and their applications in environmental monitoring and sustainable land use and transportation planning. Dr. Huang serves as the Asia-Pacific Editor of International Journal of Geographical Information Science (Taylor & Francis) and the Editor-in-Chief of Comprehensive GIS (Elsevier), a three-volume GIS sourcebook. Currently he is exploring along the line of geospatial big data to address urban environmental problems. He was appointed the Chief Scientist of Joint Laboratory of Smart Cities (Beijing) in 2015 and awarded Chang Jiang Scholar (Chair Professorship 2015) by the Ministry of Education of PR China. His research team has developed a mobile APP, TouchAir, in recent years for estimating air pollution concentrations at any location in Hong Kong and Mainland China using spatial big data, which received Hong Kong ICT Awards 2018 – Smart People Award.
