On the morning of May 14, the Department of Earth System Science (DESS) held a publicity work conference online through the Tencent conference. The purpose of the meeting was to standardize the publicity work of DESS, better demonstrate the style of DESS, and expand the influence of DESS on and off campus. Party Secretary Luo Yong, deputy director Wu Haiping, party general branch committee member Huang Xiaomeng, as well as more than 20 people including administrative office staff, party branch publicity committee members, research group publicity assistants, and postgraduate moral education assistant representatives attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Wu Haiping.

First of all, Huang Xiaomeng conveyed the spirit of the university ’s propaganda work conference to the participants, focusing on the interpretation of theoretical learning points and propaganda work tasks. The school regulates the specific responsibilities of the department ’s press and publicity posts, and provides a reference for the recruitment of publicity staff in DESS and the establishment of corresponding positions. He also conveyed the summary of the achievements of the school ’s publicity work and the deployment of the main points of work in 2020 by Qin Chuan, the executive vice minister of the school ’s publicity department and the director of the press center. Finally, Huang Xiaomeng shared the successful experience of the three departments in the propaganda work, which can provide a reference for the propaganda work of the geoscience department.

Next, Fu Meijuan made a work report from several aspects such as the publicity platform, publicity content, main points of work and current main problems of DESS.

Subsequently, the meeting solicited comments from the participants on the revision of the "Administrative Measures on the Propaganda Work of the Department of Earth System Science". Everyone brainstormed and discussed the current management methods in terms of the problems of current publicity, the mechanism of publicity coordination, the mining of publicity news, and the formulation of publicity plans. Everyone agreed that we should learn from the outstanding brother schools and departments of the publicity work, plan the publicity of the highlights and major events in advance, and make full use of the school's publicity platform to do the publicity work.

Finally, Luo Yong summarized this meeting. He first emphasized the importance of propaganda work to build a world-class geoscience discipline and enhance social service capabilities from the perspective of scientific communication, affirmed the previous achievements of DESS in propaganda work, and pointed out the problems in the current propaganda work. Luo Yong put forward new expectations and requirements for the propaganda work of the DESS: revise the propaganda work management methods, further improve and activate the propaganda work system mechanism, and improve the work enthusiasm and initiative of the propaganda team; although in the era of media integration, the propaganda work is still It is "content is king", we must pay more attention to discovering and digging good publicity materials; strengthen the capacity building of publicity teams, conduct professional training, master the operation of multimedia technology, and strive to improve the level of internationalization; strengthen the promotion platform release news of normative, timeliness and diversity, not only to the academic achievement of propaganda, through the publicity of DESS characters, achievements and cultural spirit from multiple angles, we can create a three-dimensional image of geosciences scholars in Tsinghua university, and make the publicity work of DESS more excellent, more brilliant and more outstanding on the basis of the original work!
